There are mainly two kinds of motors for CNC machine tools: feed servo motor and spindle motor.
1. CNC machine tools have different requirements for spindle motor and servo motor.
The main requirements of CNC machine tools for feed servo motors are as follows:
(1) Mechanical characteristics: small speed drop and high stiffness of servo motor are required;
(2) Requirements for rapid response: This is more stringent in contour processing, especially for high-speed processing of objects with large curvature;
(3) Speed regulation range: This can make CNC machine tools suitable for various cutting tools, processing materials, and various processing technologies;
(4) Certain output torque and overload torque are required. The nature of machine tool feeding mechanical load is mainly to overcome the friction of worktable and cutting resistance, so it is mainly the nature of "constant torque".
The requirements for high-speed motorized spindle are as follows:
(1) Sufficient output power, the spindle load property of NC machine tool is similar to "constant power", that is, when the spindle speed of machine tool is high, the output torque is small; when the spindle speed is low, the output torque is large; that is, the spindle drive device is required to have the property of "constant power";
(2) Speed regulation range: In order to ensure that CNC machine tools are suitable for various cutting tools and processing materials, and suitable for various processing technologies, spindle motors are required to have a certain speed regulation range. But the requirement of the spindle is lower than that of the feed.
(3) Speed accuracy: generally, the static error is less than 5%, and the higher requirement is less than 1%.
(4) Fast: Spindle drive device is sometimes used in positioning function, which requires it to have a certain degree of rapidity.
2. The output indexes of servo motor and spindle motor are different. The servo motor takes the torque (N.m) and the spindle takes the power (kW) as the index.
This is because the servo motor and spindle motor play different roles in CNC machine tools. The load damping of the worktable driven by the servo motor is converted to the torque on the motor axis, so the servo motor takes the torque (N.m) as the index. The spindle motor drives the spindle of the machine tool, and its load must meet the power of the machine tool, so the spindle motor takes power (kW) as the index. This is the customary term. In fact, through the conversion of mechanical formula, the two indicators can be calculated mutually.
